Manchester United defender Jonny Evans has hailed Javier Hernandez after the striker scored the only goal in the Red Devils' 1-0 win over rivals Liverpool in the Capital One Cup last night.

The Mexican striker has rarely featured for David Moyes' side so far this season but Hernandez took his opportunity as he sent Liverpool crashing out of the cup.

And, after Hernandez's match winning display last night, United's centre-back Evans has heaped praise on the Mexican star.

Speaking about Hernandez to MUTV, Evans said: "Chicharito scored a brilliant goal. "His movement was unbelievable to get away from his marker. We know what he’s like day in, day out in training.

"You’ve always got to be aware of him, he only needs a yard to get a goal. It was a fantastic finish. He’s that type of lad – you saw that against Stoke a couple of years ago when he finished it with the back of his head.

"As long as he puts it in the goal, he’s happy. He just loves scoring goals."

Hernandez will be hoping to keep his place in the side as United host West Brom at Old Trafford this weekend. The Red Devils will be hoping to get back to winning ways in the league after they were beaten 4-1 at Manchester City last weekend.

The striker could be joined in the side with Evans, who also impressed in Manchester United's victory last night.
