Tottenham v Chelsea: Five key battles

While there are many intriguing clashes in the Premier League this weekend, arguably none are as keenly-anticipated as the encounter between bitter London rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea at White Hart Lane on Saturday.

The hosts, who lost prize asset Gareth Bale in a world-record move to Real Madrid this summer, have made a mostly positive start to the new campaign and currently occupy second place in the table behind Arsenal.

Spurs made a raft of new signings and broke their transfer record three times over to adequately fill the gaping void left by Bale's departure, and the new recruits seem to be adapting well to life in North London, with Christian Eriksen and Paulinho particularly impressing.

For the Blues, this season has already represented somewhat of a rollercoaster ride. Under popular Portuguese Jose Mourinho, who returned for his second stint at Stamford Bridge following the departure of the deeply unpopular Rafael Benitez at the climax of the 2012/13 campaign, Chelsea are currently perched in fourth position having amassed ten points from their opening five fixtures.

Although their league position at this embryonic stage of the new domestic campaign is not a particular cause for concern, Mourinho was massively disappointed by recent defeats to Everton and Swiss outfit FC Basel.

Here, GMS takes a look at five key battles that are set to take place between the two teams on Saturday.
