Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has added some extra spice to tonight's Madrid derby, by questioning Real's decision to sell German midfielder Mesut Ozil in the summer.
Courtois' side travel to the Bernabeu hoping for a repeat of their last visit where they claimed the Copa del Rey in May after defeating their City rivals.
With six wins from their opening six games, Atletico sit alongside Barcelona at the top of the La Liga table, as they look to maintain their 100% record.
Real sit a place and two points behind prior to their clash, and the Chelsea loanee feels the sale of Ozil to Arsenal during the transfer window has given his side a greater chance of maintaining that margin.
"Without him, Madrid lack quality in the game," Courtois told AS.
"Ozil had tremendous vision in playing the final pass between the lines and opening up the game, although it is true that they have others," he added.
Ozil made the switch to North London as he became Arsenal's record signing in a deal worth £42 million when completing his signing on transfer deadline day, and has already produced a number of impressive performances contributing plenty of assists.
Atletico are looking to make history with victory at the Bernabeu, and if they do so it will be the best start to the season in their history.
Meanwhile new-signing Gareth Bale has recovered from injury, and is set to make his home debut for Carlo Ancelotti's side.
