Manchester United are set to once again attempt a Barcelona raid in Janauary this time for potential Iniesta replacement, Sergi Roberto, according to the Metro.
Struggling manager, David Moyes, has admitted his underachieving side is still one or two signings short of truly competing against the likes of Bayern Munich and Barcelona, and Moyes may turn to Roberto in January.
The Barcelona starlet is struggling to find a route into the first-team, with Andres Iniesta and Xavi unlikely to be displaced from the Barça setup any time in the immediate future.
Roberto may instead decide to follow Thiago Alacantra out of Camp Nou for reigning English premiers, Manchester United, who are still in the hunt for a quality attacking midfielder after failing to secure transfer targets Fabregas, Thiago and Herrera in the summer transfer window.
The Spanish U21 star is a central midfielder with exceptional passing range and vision, with over 100 appearances for Barça B since his debut as a 16-year-old.
The precocious teenager's play has seen him affectionately dubbed as the 'baby Iniesta' has only 18 months remaining on his contract, and United have reportedly been informed that Barcelona would be prepared to part ways with Roberto for only £6million.
Manchester United currently lie at 12th place in the Barclays Premier League.
