Much has been debated about David Moyes' ability to manage Manchester United, especially after yesterday's defeat to West Brom.

Although many United supporters are aware of of the difficult start to the season in terms of fixture list, they still haven't given Moyes a break when it comes to results. How do the results from last season compare and subsequent points tally stack up against the teams faced so far this year?

So far, Moyes' United have faced Chelsea (Draw), Crystal Palace (Win) and West Brom (Loss) at home and Swansea (Win), Liverpool (Loss) and Manchester City (Loss) away in the Premier League. They have taken seven points in total from these six opponents.

How did Ferguson compare with the same fixtures?

Considering Crystal Palace are a promoted team, it is not possible to take a result for this fixture from last season. An assumptive three points were taken as United beat all three relegated sides at home last season.

Ferguson managed; Chelsea (Loss), Crystal Palace (Assumptive win) and West Brom (Draw) at home and Swansea (Draw), Liverpool (Win) and Manchester City (Win) away in the Premier League. United took a total of eleven points in total from these six opponents.

Considering this retrospective run of results, United would find themselves in fourth place thus far this season, as they would have recorded a loss to Chelsea.
