Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has admitted the Blues must defeat Steaua Bucharest on Tuesday or risk failing to qualify for the last 16 of the Champions League.
Mourinho's side lost their opening Champions League match against Basel at Stamford Bridge, which has made tomorrow's encounter a must-win game for the west London outfit,
Chelsea go into the game on the back of a solid performance against London rivals Tottenham, where the Portuguese tactician's 10-man Chelsea side claimed a point at White Hart Lane.
Speaking ahead of Chelsea's Group E clash against Steaua, Mourinho told West London Sport: “We have our problems and some are not easy to resolve. We had a difficult start and had to play at the home of two title contenders but, step by step, we are there.
“Tuesday is a different story. Tuesday is a game we cannot lose. Even a draw is not a good result for us.
“We need 12 points to be out of any danger, so if we lose there we still have four games to play for 12 points but we would have to win all of those. We cannot put ourselves under so much pressure.
“If we go there and don’t win it will depend on the other opponents, so it’s a match we will have to try to win.
“The reality is that when you lose your first match at home there are conditions to make another mistake.
“If you then make a second mistake you are still alive, but only just.”
Mourinho has confirmed that Chelsea star Juan Mata will start Tuesday's match after the Spaniard impressed after coming on at half-time against Tottenham on Saturday.
The Chelsea boss may also hand starts to Gary Cahill and Samuel Eto'o after the duo had to make do with a place on the bench against Andre Villas-Boas' side.
