This weekend saw probably the first serious move in the title race, with Arsenal pulling two points clear at the top after most of their rivals dropped points and it will be interesting to see whether The Gunners can maintain their form.

Manchester United suffered a shock loss at home to West Brom, Manchester City threw away a 2-1 lead to lose 3-2 at Aston Villa, while Chelsea and Tottenham shared the spoils at White Hart Lane.

Only Liverpool, boosted by the return of Luis Suarez, managed to gain all three points with a straightforward 3-1 victory over struggling Sunderland – the Black Cats were playing their first Premier League match since the sacking of Paolo di Canio.

While some of the top teams are struggling to find consistency, a few players are in outstanding form and are either the main reason their respective sides have been doing well or are keeping their team in touching distance while others falter.

GMS have picked out five players leading the way in the Premier League at the moment and have been making plenty of headlines in the early stages of the campaign.
