Wayne Rooney may have been unable to prevent Manchester United suffering defeat at the hands of West Brom on Saturday, but the striker was thankful to continue a fine run of goalscoring form.
The Premier League champions fell to a surprise 2-1 loss at Old Trafford, with Saido Berahino scoring the winner after Rooney had cancelled out the opening strike of the afternoon from Morgan Amalfitano.
Rooney's goal was his fifth in as many games for Manchester United and places the 27-year-old level with Robin van Persie as the club's leading scorer in the league so far this season.
Following his weekend exploits, Rooney posted a picture on his official Facebook page on Monday afternoon and thanked Nike for providing the boots that have helped him during this purple patch.
Rooney said: "Really like my new boots that I scored in on Saturday, thanks Nike Football!"
He will be granted an opportunity to further extend his goalscoring run when Manchester United face Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on Wednesday, with Rooney having netted a brace in his previous outing in this season's competition.
