Newcastle are said to be on the hunt of a possible replacement for Tim Krul, as Arsenal will challenge AC Milan for his services in January, according to the Express.
Arsene Wenger is rumoured to still be interested in bringing in a 'keeper who will challenge current no.1 Wojciech Szczęsny for his starting berth, and sees Krul, who has developed well since his arrival at Newcastle, as an ideal candidate.
Emiliano Viviano was bought in over the summer from Palermo to provide cover for the Polish shot-stopper, but the fact he only remains at the Emirates on loan means Wenger could seek a more permanent solution to his predicament come January.
Doubts have persistently been cast over Szczesny's claim to the goalkeeping position at Arsenal due to his lack of consistency.
He was replaced temporarily last season after a poor run of form and had to work hard to win back his place.
It is believed that Wenger still harbours concerns whilst Szczesny remains his only option however, and so will most likely look to bring in another good 'keeper at the next available opportunity.
