Manchester United have not enjoyed the best of starts to this season's Premier League campaign, but they got off to the best possible start against Bayer Leverkusen in their Champions League opener a fortnight ago.
A convincing 4-2 home victory over the Bundesliga outfit put three points on the board for David Moyes, who will be looking for a response from his players following Saturday's shock 2-1 defeat to West Brom at Old Trafford.
United have a difficult task to take all three points - but this is the side Moyes is likely to deploy against the Ukrainian champions.
Goalkeeper: David de Gea
The Spaniard will retain his place between the sticks for the Red Devils.
Rafael did not feature against West Brom but impressed on his return from injury against Liverpool last week. Could find himself up against his compatriot Bernard.
Centre-back: Rio Ferdinand
Ferdinand didn't enjoy the best of games against the Baggies on Saturday but should have the opportunity to bounce back in Donetsk.
Centre-back: Nemanja Vidic
Vidic's presence will be crucial in the United back-four alongside, presumably, Ferdinand.
Left-back: Patrice Evra
Evra has sat out of United's last two matches, but will return to his left-back spot for this Champions League qualifier.
Central-midfield: Michael Carrick
United's midfield would look rather weak without Carrick, who is surely a guaranteed starter.
Central-midfield: Marouane Fellaini
Fellaini has shown glimpses of promise since his £27.5m move from Everton last month, but the United faithful expect more from the Belgium international. This is another chance to prove his worth.
Left-wing: Danny Welbeck
Moyes knows that Welbeck will put a shift in and help out Evra defensively, which should earn him the left-wing spot ahead of Shinji Kagawa and Nani.
Right-wing: Antonio Valencia
Valencia did not feature against West Brom, but should regain his place in the starting XI for Wednesday night's match.
Attacking midfielder: Wayne Rooney
Rooney has been United's best player this season and will hope to continue his excellent early-season form against Shakhtar.
Striker: Robin van Persie
Van Persie was only used as a substitute against West Brom, so the prolific Dutchman should be fit and raring to go.
