Higuain fitness doubt for Arsenal clash

According to Italian newspaper Gazzetta della Sport, Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain is still suffering from a muscle injury that could keep him out of Napoli's Champions League tie at Arsenal on Tuesday.

The 25-year old was left out of Napoli's squad 2-0 victory over Genoa in Serie A, and there are new doubts over his fitness for the trip to London. Gazzetta says Higuain trained separately from the Napoli squad on Monday, but felt unexpected pain that could point to a more serious injury.

There will be a late fitness test for the summer Arsenal target, with Goran Pandev waiting to replace Higuain should he not be passed fit to play.

Higuain was reportedly close to signing for Arsenal from Real Madrid in the summer, before they upped their asking price. Napoli swooped for the Argentine, who is being compared to the class and finishing of Argentine-Neapolitan legend Diego Maradona.

Higuain has three league goals already in Italy, with the new striker forging a good partnership with Marek Hamsik and Lorenzo Insigne.

Arsenal have Tomas Rosicky returning to the squad for their home game against Napoli, and manager Arsene Wenger is expected to make very few changes from the side that beat Swansea 2-1 in the Premier League last weekend.
