Five of the best: Premier League academy graduates (1)

Published 3 Comments

Everton midfielder Ross Barkley's rise to stardom has been as sudden as it has impressive.

The once-capped England international played a starring role as Roberto Martinez's side continued their unbeaten start to the Premier League season, with a 3-2 home win over Newcastle United their latest success.

Barkley got on the scoresheet too - with on-loan star Romelu Lukaku hitting a brace - to fire the Toffees to fourth in the table and condemn Alan Pardew's men to yet another defeat.

And Barkley's scintillating performances have led to fans and media alike to tip the 19-year-old midfielder to go on and become England's 'next big thing', with Martinez claiming Barkley is a "diamond".

A product of Everton's academy, Barkley is one of many players to have made the breakthrough at a young age. Here, GiveMeSport look at five of the best academy graduates in the Premier League.
