Manchester United's Brazilian midfielder Anderson arrived at Old Trafford in 2007 and has never lived up to expectation at Old Trafford.
Now, at the age of 25, the midfielder should be reaching his prime - but he just doesn't seem to be improving.
Unfortunately and most surprisingly, his first season at the Theatre of Dreams was probably his best.
He looked a player with bags of potential, great energy and technically brilliant. So, whatever happened to that player?
In recent years, Anderson has delivered on the odd occasion. He's put in a couple of very good performances here-and-there, most notably against Liverpool, but he's been unable to show quality for long periods of time.
And, failing to do that certainly isn't good enough, especially at Manchester United.
In 175 appearances for the Red Devils, he's scored just nine goals, so he doesn't even contribute in terms of goals.
Anderson has never been trusted as a main-stay in the centre of the park at Old Trafford and it's not really a surprise.
It had been thought that the Brazilian, who has represented his country, would get a new lease of life under David Moyes, but this has not been the case.
In his latest opportunity, at home to West Brom, Anderson failed to impress again. Playing in the middle of the field, alongside a pass master like Michael Carrick, United need a warrior and a battler, but Anderson doesn't seem up for the battle.
It's surprising really that Anderson has been at United so long and is actually closing in on 200 appearances for the Red Devils because in all honesty he's still not established himself as the midfielder he hoped to be.
He's certainly no where near the class of United midfielders of the past, when you compare him with the likes of Roy Keane and Paul Scholes.
There's no doubting that he's been unfortunate with injuries, but he has had his opportunities, and if he gets many more he will have to take them quickly or will surely be facing the Old Trafford exit door.
