Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud believes the first step to achieving his dream of a Ballon d'Or title is by strategically following a step-by-step approach to his development.
After making a strong start to this season, helping Arsene Wenger's side to victory in five of the opening six Premier League matches with four goals, it's no surprise the 27-year-old Frenchman is dreaming big.
Giroud joined the Gunners from Ligue 1 side Montpellier back in 2012, and has since made 40 appearances, scoring 15 goals.
He also received his first international call-up from Laurent Blanc in 2011, and is currently battling to lead the French attack with Real Madrid's Karim Benzema.
He told France Football that he wants to stay grounded to achieve his goals, saying: "What has always made me succeed is the fact I set sensible objectives.
"I grew that way, step by step. Before thinking about the Ballon d'Or, before being part of the top 10 players in the world, I first have to be in top 10 forwards in England.
"I am starting to make a name for myself among that top 10 and I want to do it this year. That is a short-term objective.
"Talking about that two years ago, I would have said it was not sensible. Now I am aware I have the right potential to make it."
Giroud has also been welcomed into Arsenal with open arms, and has admitted he enjoys hearing the fans chant his name.
"I am very proud of that," he added. "It is great honour to have been adopted by the fans so quickly.
"That gives you desire to pay back on the pitch. I think they feel I give my very best. I don't only think about scoring."
Tonight Arsenal face Napoli in Champions League Group F at the Emirates Stadium. Last time they met the Gunners had a tough match on their hands, coming back from 2-0 to draw with Napoli 2-2 during their pre-season Emirates Cup friendly in August.
