With Battleground less than a week away, Raw had some momentum to build as The Rhodes family were tonight's special guests.
Raw kicked off with CM Punk talking about what happened last week, he was unhappy about how predictable WWE is and said that he added unpredictability as well as saying he wanted a fight (Hopefully with Axel or Ryback) tonight - he was then interrupted by Brad Maddox who said he would get him a fight if he wanted one, and out came Big E Langston.
Langston attacked Punk with the microphone and Maddox called for the referee who began the match. And, just like that, we were off.
CM Punk v Big E Langston
Big E is getting a big push here, as he's involved in a match with Punk and pulled off some new moves. At first, Punk seemed to be holding his own against the strength of Langston. The match was all back and forth but Punk predictably got the win after Big E missed a splash and allowed him to hit the GTS.
Fandango v Kofi Kingston
Both men are wearing and supporting WWE's Breast Cancer Awareness campaign, Fandango doesn't seem to be receiving anything from WWE right now and the match is not one that will live long in the memory. Kofi gets the win via Trouble in Paradise.
After the match the lights went down and The Wyatt family advanced to the ring, but this time Kofi is waiting with a chair - and this stops them in their tracks. Bray cuts a promo about following the buzzards again before he leaves.
Randy Orton is backstage and he is talking to Brie about her new fiancé Daniel Bryan, telling her to book her wedding before Sunday because Daniel will not make it down the aisle.
Los Matadores v Jinder Mahal and Heath Slater
Los Matadores finally made their long awaited debut with their own tiny valet, who I thought for a moment was Hornswoggle but he began doing flips, so it wasn't.
Anyway, the crowd weren't fooled by Primo and Epico's new characters and were chanting for Primo throughout - the Matadores had some creative new offence and were never really going to be troubled by two members of 3MB. They got the win after a double team move that is yet to be named.
Triple H and Stephanie entered the ring after we came back from commercial and they welcomed the Rhodes Family, and offered Dusty a deal - if Cody and Goldust can beat the Tag Team Champions they can have their jobs back but if they lose, Dusty loses his job.
Dusty accepts and the match is made official for Battleground, but Dusty also says he will be in their corner and is itching for a fight. Stephanie tells his to be careful what he wishes for.
Triple H and Stephanie leave and The Shield attack, kicking both Dusty and Goldust before hitting the triple powerbomb on Cody.
R-Truth v Curtis Axel
R-Truth is out wearing his pink t-shirt and seems to be receiving a substantial push as of late, a win here could put him into the Intercontinental Championship picture.
The Match itself is back and forth, both men build momentum but there is no clear front runner, CM Punk's music hits and as Heyman looks terrified at Ringside, Axel is distracted and Truth hits the drop for the win.
Brie Bella v Alicia Fox
Brie was out looking for a win to keep her rolling towards her Divas title match on Sunday, with AJ watching the match backstage with Tamina Snuka.
Alicia seemed to be better at the trash talking than the actual wrestling, Nikki was cheering Brie on at ringside and after Brie's new finisher (Torrie Wilson's face plant) she got the three count. It looks like she could get the upset this weekend.
Zack Ryder v Alberto Del Rio
This was obviously a build up match for Alberto heading into his title defence against RVD at Battleground. And Zack Ryder never really had a chance, if he won it would have put him in the World Title picture and WWE have enough of a problem trying to tell the WWE Universe that Daniel Bryan isn't good enough, imagine if Zack Ryder was in the frame!
Not a lot to report from the actual match, Del Rio got the win off the cross arm breaker.
Ryback and Paul Heyman came out after the commercial, Heyman telling Ryback he is a big beautiful man and doing his best to get into his good books, before dropping down on one knee and looking as though he is going to propose to him (Well he did kiss him a few weeks ago) but then asks if he will be a Paul Heyman guy...
But before he can answer, CM Punk's music hits and it looks like he is nowhere to be seen again before we spot him running through the crowd. But he looked to be injured after he jumped the barrier, he seemed to be in a lot of pain and a medic came to help him as Heyman and Ryback looked on.
But Punk jumps up after grabbing a Kendo stick and goes about clearing the ring.
Axel also tries to get involved but Punk beats him down with the stick, Ryback and Heyman retreat so Punk hits the GTS on Axel.
Dolph Ziggler and The Usos v The Shield
All men have history and this was an inventive match up, (Still don't understand why Dolph has been relegated to the kick off show after his impressive match at Night Of Champions) but all six men threw what they could at each other.
I had a thought that The Rhodes family might be back out to interfere but the match ran smoothly and led up to a superb ending which saw Ziggler hit the famousser before Roman broke up the three count, Seth got Zig Zagged but Roman again made the save with a spear for the win.
With Orton and Bryan essentially being the main event and following an excellent six man tag match, you felt something had to happen.
Both men were sporting Cancer shirts but Randy Orton had to be different and wear a black and pink shirt. But he made a big mistake when he brought Brie into the conversation and Daniel attacked him with the mic - which broke - Daniel looked like he was finally getting the upper hand on the Viper but as always he slithered out and as in previous weeks began to beat Bryan down outside the ring.
Orton was about to hit the DDT from the apron when Brie came running out and begged him not to, but he did it anyway, Brie then went over to comfort Bryan but Randy wasn't finished as he picked Bryan up and put him through the announce table. Brie was then seen sitting next to him looking worried as Raw ended.
Will Bryan make it to Battleground? Will Daniel Bryan and Brie leave Sunday night as the most dominant couple in WWE? Will the Rhodes family get their jobs back? Watch Battleground and find out, live Monday October 7th at 1am on Sky Sports 3.
