Napoli midfielder Gokhan Inler has heaped praise on "magic" Arsenal, after his side fell to a 2-0 Champions League defeat at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night.
Indeed, the Gunners' victory over Rafael Benitez's side was comprehensive. New signing Mesut Ozil notched his first goal for his new side, and Olivier Giroud added to his growing goal tally this season.
The former Udinese player went on to say: "We weren't competitive enough in the opening stages and Arsenal started very strongly."
Both of Arsenal's goals came early on at the Emirates, with Ozil opening the scoring in the 8th minute and Giroud in the 15th.
“We tried to improve in the second half but it was very difficult to get back in the game. Our opponents played very well,” said Inler.
Despite the fact that no more goals came after the 15th minute, Arsene Wenger's side had 64 per cent possession in a game that was dominated by the midfield trio of Aaron Ramsey, Ozil and Tomas Rosicky, who was replaced by Jack Wilshere in the 63rd minute.
On Wilshere not starting, Arsenal's manager said in the Telegraph: "I don't want to overload him. He's back after a long time out. With him, I am a bit more cautious than I was before."
Napoli only managed one shot on goal, whilst Arsenal hit a more credible four shots on target.
Whether or not Inler is hoping to impress Wenger with his comments, it remains to be seen.
