Radamel Falcao is set to leave AS Monaco at the end of the season - because his wife has failed to settle in the principality.

Portuguese paper A Bola reports that Falcao's partner is unhappy in Monaco, which could lead the £50 million man to ask for a summer transfer.

Chelsea and Real Madrid were both heavily linked with a move for the ex-Atletico Madrid man prior to his Monaco switch, and would likely reignite their interest in the Colombian hitman should he become available once again.

The 27-year-old forward has been forced to deny he was set for a quick exit just weeks after signing for Monaco, with reports emerging that Real Madrid were preparing a big-money move for the prolific striker.

But reports linking Falcao with a swift exit continue to resurface, with these latest rumours adding yet more weight to the argument that Monaco's no.9 wants out.

Chelsea had made Falcao one of their top summer transfer targets, with Jose Mourinho keen to add the powerful frontman to his Stamford Bridge forward line.

But Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich was reportedly unwilling to pay the whole of the Colombian's release fee, allowing the mega-rich Ligue 1 outfit to nip in and sign Falcao unopposed.
