Viktoria Plzen score horror own-goal in Champions League tie

Viktoria Plzen succumbed to defeat in their Champions League tie against CSKA Moscow in the most bizarre circumstances imaginable earlier tonight as goalkeeper Matúš Kozáčik conceded a comedy own goal.

The Czech side were chasing the tie at 2-1 down in the second half despite being the better team for much of the game.

When CSKA broke forward there didn't seem to be much chance of a goal. Indeed Plzen, who gave a good account of themselves despite their heavy defeat against Manchester City last month, regained possession through Radim Reznik, who rolled an innocuous ball back for his 'keeper to clear.

However, summoning the spirit of Peter Enckelman, Kozáčik goes to control the ball but let it run straight under his foot and into the unguarded net.

Despite a late goal to make it 3-2 the game was gone. Catastrophe.
