Arsenal target scores two in Madrid romp

Published 1 Comments

Arsenal target Angel di Maria scored twice as twice as Real Madrid romped to a 4-0 victory over FC Copenhagen.

The Argentine, who was closely linked with a move to the Emirates over the summer, and has been the subject of speculation concerning a January transfer, grabbed his first and second goals of the season as Madrid claimed their second Champions League win in as many games.

Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring for Los Blancos against a relatively weak Copenhagen team that they were expected to rout, before adding a second after halftime to notch his fifth goal in two European games.

Di Maria then settled things with his brace, firstly netting in the 71st minute before adding his second in injury time.

It's thought that Arsene Wenger may return for the winger at the next available opportunity.

Di Maria was expected to make way following the arrival of Gareth Bale, but following the Welshman's injury problems, he has enjoyed a run in the starting eleven.

It remains to be seen whether or not he will remain an ever-present fixture in Carlo Ancelotti's side upon Bale's return.
