Cristiano Ronaldo to Arsenal

Football News

Another intriguing revelation this week came from long-serving Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, who claimed that the club had come so close to signing Portuguese star Ronaldo as a teenager that they had even given him a squad number.

Ultimately, Carlos Queiroz's presence at Old Trafford led to the winger joining United instead and he went on to become arguably the Premier League's greatest-ever talents and one of the best players the sport has ever seen.

But would he have still been able to flourish to such an extent had he signed for Arsenal? Would the signing of such a wonderful footballer have elevated Arsenal to the status of permanent title contenders?
