Miami Heat icon LeBron James' jersey is the best-selling NBA jersey in the world, according to ESPN.
28-year-old James, a former number-one draft pick who joined the Heat after a seven-year stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers, enjoys a tremendous reputation throughout the sporting world and has helped his franchise to win two consecutive titles.
James' popularity wouldn't appear to be simply restricted to the United States of America however, with the small forward's famous number six jersey topping the list of sales based on sportswear giant adidas' figures for the past season.
James, who is currently preparing for the season ahead with his teammates as they aim to achieve a historic 'three-peat', was clearly delighted by the news and spoke of his appreciation of his role model status.
"To know that so many people look up to me, so many kids, that's what means more than anything, that I continue to inspire the youth and they look at me as a role model," he was quoted by ESPN in a training camp in the Bahamas.
"I understand, when you wear someone's jersey, you actually like believe in them. You believe they can do supernatural things. It's like an extension of our family, and I really appreciate that."
James reportedly beat Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose - who is set to make his return from serious injury during preseason - as well as Los Angeles Lakers stalwart Kobe Bryant and Oklahoma City Thunder scoring sensation Kevin Durant to top the list.
