Wenger: Positivity is the key

Speaking to Arsenal.com, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has called for a sense of "perspective" amid talk of challenging for the Premier League title and also the Champions League this year.

The season started almost as poorly as the previous one, Arsenal were poor at home against Aston Villa but since then there has been a newfound dynamic in the performances, they have been determined, bullish, competitive and hard working and have dominated a fair few of those games.

This has resulted in a run of 10 wins back-to-back in all competitions, which has fuelled the recent title talk.

Wenger has intimated that the reason for the impressive form their in is down to a positive environment around the club as a whole, which is a lot different from where Arsenal were a matter of months ago.

Every fan had his or her opinion on what was needed and even fans were at loggerheads with each other. It was a worrying time as many pre seasons had come before it was yet again the most important transfer window yet.

Wenger was under huge pressure from a large amount of the Arsenal faithful and something had to give. There were rumours of numerous big name players that were linked to the club, Wayne Rooney, Gonzalo Higuain, Angel Di Maria, Karim Benzema, but none of those materialised.

Fortunately the one that did, Mesut Özil, has been a revelation in his short spell in north London. The team has functioned superbly, and things could hardly be better.

Wenger seems very confident of ending Arsenal's eight-year trophy drought, it's surely a case of keeping up the good form and the rest will take care of itself.

The has been an impressive resilience in the defensive performances which is refreshing to see as this has been Arsenal's Achilles heel for years now, and something that didn't seem to have been addressed properly in previous seasons.

There is also talk of Wenger being offered a new three-year deal, this is just pure speculation at present, although Wenger has gone on record of saying "judge me in May" I'm sure this will seem a little bit of a knee jerk reaction to a lot of Gooners as this comes off the back of, yes a good run of form, but ultimately it is very early in the season. Every team has a blip -  it is how they react to that.
