Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale has withdrawn from the Wales squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Macedonia and Belgium.

Despite being initially named in Chris Coleman's squad, the world's most expensive player has withdrawn due to a thigh injury which has hampered the 24-year old's start with Real.

Midfielders Joe Allen, Joe Ledley and Andrew Crofts have also joined Bale on the injury list and have also withdrawn from the national squad.

Coleman cited the lose of Bale as a "massive blow", going onto state "a player of his talent would be a loss to anybody."

"After naming the squad I was told he had a problem. It looks like he will possibly be out for two weeks," Coleman said.

Wales currently sit bottom of Group A and are now unable to progress to their first World Cup in 55 years with second placed Croatia 11 points ahead.

The upcoming double-header, beginning on October 11, is likely to be must win for Coleman, with the 43-year old's job potentially on the line.

Coleman is believed to still be in negotiations with the Football Association of Wales over extending his stay beyond the current qualifiers.

With Coleman's future left in limbo, it looks almost certain that Craig Bellamy will play his final part for the Dragons after hinting that he probably won't take part in Euro 2016 qualification.
