Manchester United could look to cash-in on Japanese international Shinji Kagawa, with Borussia Dortmund ready to offer defender Neven Subotic in exchange, according to reports.
Manager David Moyes hasn't enjoyed the best start to his tenure at Old Trafford and is keen to add to his defensive options, with Subotic high on the Scotsman's wishlist.
This could pave the way for the Kagawa to rejoin his former club, where he is still idolised, when the transfer window opens again in January.
The 24-year-old has seen first-team opportunities limited since signing in the summer of 2012 and fans of the German club have been vocal in trying to persuade manager Jurgen Klopp to re-sign the midfielder, even taking to Twitter to register their support of the player.
Kagawa enjoyed a hugely successful spell with the club following a 2010 move from his native Japan and helped Dortmund to back-to-back Bundesliga titles in 2011 and 2012 before linking up with the Red Devils the following summer.
Meanwhile, Serbian defender Subotic has been a fixture in the Dortmund side since signing from Mainz in 2008 and has had a huge role in the club's rise to success in recent years.
Capped 36 times for the national side, Subotic could form a central defensive partnership with international teammate Nemanja Vidic should a move to Old Trafford materialise in the near future.
