Now we are decent way into the Premier League season, it is getting easier to tell if some of the summer deals made this season are paying off.

While it may be a little premature to talk up certain moves and writing off others, some Premier League stars are already showing that getting them in was a very good idea.

It is always a nice feeling for a football fan to see a new face at his club start well and indicate he may have been a shrewd managerial move, but an even better feeling is seeing someone do well after not paying a penny to sign him.

Be it a free transfer signing or a season-long loan, getting in a quality player and not having to shell out a hefty transfer fee gives all managers, fans and chairmen a warm glow inside.

With this in mind, GMS decided to pick out five players that did not require a transfer who have impressed the most so far this season.
