Chelsea are looking to sign West Bromwich Albion youngster Saido Berahino, according to the Metro.
Having spent the last few years out on loan in the lower divisions, the 20-year-old striker has made his breakthrough into the first team at The Hawthorns following his goals-scoring exploits for the England under 21's.
He has two goals in two games for the Young Lions side following a first call-up over the summer.
That led to speculation that manager Steve Clarke might loan out his young star to give him some experience as it was expected that Berahino wouldn't get game time in the face of stiff competition from the likes of the experienced players Nicholas Anelka, Shane Long, Stephane Sessegnon, Victor Anichebe and Matej Vydra.
However the Burundi-born striker has managed to register four appearances and scored a brilliant goal against Manchester United last weekend at Old Trafford to help his side to an unexpected win.
The big clubs have started circling as it emerged that Berahino's contract, which expires in the summer, earns him a paltry (by football standards) £850-per-week.
The Blues boss Jose Mourinho could now launch a £5 million bid in January despite already hosting a wealth of word-class striking talent.
