With seven games gone in the Premier League, Liverpool have suffered just one defeat - at home to Southampton - but there is plenty of optimism among the Anfield supporters.

The Reds continued their solid start to the campaign with a comfortable 3-1 win over struggling Crystal Palace on Saturday, with strikers Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge grabbing a goal each.

But perhaps the most pleasing thing about Liverpool's start to the season is that they are yet to hit top gear. And manager Brendan Rodgers believes his side still have a lot of improvements to make.

But the strike partnership of Suarez and Sturridge is already looking like one of the best in club football at the moment, with Sturridge bagging six goals already this season, and the Uruguay international scoring three goals since his return following a ten match ban for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.

The Reds have been playing some excellent football this season, and as long as the two star strikers keep on scoring, there is no reason why they cannot finish in the Champions League places at the very least.

But it isn't just Suarez and Sturridge that have impressed. New goalkeeper Simon Mingolet already looks settled in at Anfield, and has made some wonderful saves. The defence looks solid, with the likes of Kolo Toure and Mamadou Sakho putting in strong performances in their first few games at the club.

But as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end and the challenge for Liverpool is this - can they keep up the momentum at the top of the league? It has been a while since Liverpool have been this high at this stage of the season, and the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea are yet to hit top gear as well.

But the race for the top four already looks like it could be the closest yet, with at least six teams looking likely to compete for the four spots.

The only downside for Liverpool is the international break coming up. But Liverpool fans will be hoping that there are no injuries during the hiatus, and that they can continue to impress with a trip to Newcastle next up.
