According to former Chelsea manager Gianluca Vialli, Tottenham Hotspur could be gearing up for a move for Andrea Pirlo from Serie 'A' champions Juventus.
It was revealed last month that the Italian playmaker's future may be uncertain at the Turin giants, after a growing belief that he is ready to test himself in either England or Spain.
Spurs have been on alert to this potential move, and have since followed up their initial interest by exploring the possibility of landing Pirlo on a free transfer at the end of the season - that's following claims made by Vialli on Sky Italia on Sunday.
Vialli appeared as a studio guest for Juve's 3-2 win over AC Milan, and was quizzed about the contract stand-off between the 34-year-old and the Serie A champions.
As quoted on the Daily Mail, he said: "I heard the rumours from London that there are contacts between Pirlo and Tottenham for next season."
After a disappointing start to the season for Pirlo, scoring just one goal in ten appearances for the Turin giants, it remains to be seen whether his contract will be extended by coach Antonio Conte at the end of the season.
He is on a two or three month 'trial' period - which comes as a stark contrast to his performance last season where he was only substituted once, and at this point had already netted twice.
As it stands, Juve are yet to lose a game this season, and have only drawn three out of their ten fixtures, positioning them in third in the Serie A table just behind Napoli.
Their next match sees them take on Fiorentina, who have failed to beat Conte's side since March 2008.
