Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere owned up to smoking a cigarette on a night out and claims it will be his last one.
Wilshere claims he made a mistake when smoking a cigarette and insists he is not a smoker.
The midfielder is currently on international duty with England ahead of two crucial World Cup Qualifiers against Montenegro and Poland, both will be played at Wembley.
Pictures emerged of Wilshere smoking a cigarette on a night out after Arsenal's 2-0 victory in the Champions League against Napoli last week.
The England international returned to the starting line up against West Brom yesterday, scoring the equaliser to secure a point for the Gunners.
A spokesperson for Wilshere claimed the midfielder was only holding the cigarette as a dare from his friends, but the 21-year-old reveals this was not the case.
“I made a mistake, players make mistakes,” Wilshere told Arsenal's official website.
“I am not a smoker. I am not a smoker so I think that will be my last one.”
Fans comically chanted: 'Jack Wilshere - he smokes when wants' after the former Bolton Wanderers loanee scored at The Hawthorns on Sunday.
Wilshere thanked the fans for his new song via Twitter: “Love the new song for me today! Haha fans were incredible again!”
The midfielder has struck three times for Arsenal, who remain top of the Premier League, since his debut back in 2008, when he became the north London club's youngest ever league debutant at the age of 16 years, 256 days.
