Anthony Joshua made light work of Emanuele Leo with a knockout in the first round of his professional debut.

The 2012 gold medalist started the round with a solid look about his work, using his jab effectively to bring himself into range to land some venomous right hands, which rocked the Italian on occasion in the opening minute.

Joshua took his time and picked his shots with accuracy. He continued to demonstrate his missile like jab and continued to aggress, landing powerful right hands that proved too much for Leo to handle as he saw himself fall onto the ropes before colliding with the canvas.

Joshua was in full control of his first fight in the paid ranks, and acknowledged Britain once again for coming together in support of his efforts.

He told Sky Sports post-fight: "It was just as important as winning the Olympics as everyone is here to support and everyone is proud that we got the victory and it's just onto the next one now.

Joshua's promoter, Eddie Hearn, has big dreams for the heavyweight, with the Lonsdale Belt in sight by the end of next year. He's also set to fight on the Kell Brook-Vyacheslav Senchenko undercard at the end of the month.
