Newcastle midfielder Yohan Cabaye has urged Joe Kinnear to tell 'the truth' after the France international was unable to secure his desired move to Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
Cabaye was a target for the Gunners as Arsene Wenger looked to reinforce his midfield prior to the transfer deadline, but Newcastle rejected an offer from the north London club.
The 27-year-old was left out of the Newcastle squad shortly after the bid was dismissed, and Alan Pardew criticised Arsenal for unsettling the player due to the nature of their approach.
Arsenal eventually recruited Mathieu Flamini and Mesut Özil during the transfer period, leaving Cabaye to wonder what might have been.
Cabaye has since been integrated back into the Newcastle side and has earned praise from Pardew for his attitude, but the Frenchman says the real story of his summer of discontent is yet to be told.
And, claims Cabaye, the only person who knows the full extent of what happened with Arsenal is Newcastle director football Kinnear, who famously got the name of the player wrong in an interview.
Cabaye is reported to have said: "The only other person who knows the truth is Joe Kinnear. If he is honest, he will tell it."
