Manchester United are set to sign highly-rated Brazilian starlet Bruno Gomes, despite strong competition from Real Madrid, Udinese and Sao Paulo, according to the Daily Star.
The 18-year-old was unable to leave current side Desportivo Brasil until his birthday, but has already garnered significant interest from a host of clubs in Europe.
However it is United, where Gomes had a trial in 2012 when he was just 17, that are said to be the favourites for the wonderkid's signature.
Gomes has been heavily tracked by Madrid, and came close to penning a deal with Sao Paulo, but it is his past ties with Old Trafford that offer David Moyes the advantage.
It is believed that United have first refusal on the youngster, but that specific right will disappear once a bid of a certain level is made.
Gomeshas reportedly insisted that he wants to join the Premier League champions, but Moyes may be forced to move sooner rather than later if he wishes to guarantee the signing of the prodigal youngster, who was the subject of much interest from Sir Alex Ferguson.
