Michigan recorded their first Big Ten win of the season on Sunday, with a quite breathtaking goal from James Murphy enough to settle the contest between these two great rivals.
Murphy's strike was one of pure brilliance, and will surely be in contention for individual accolades when the goal of the season is decided at the end of the campaign.
There were echoes of Thierry Henry's famous volley for Arsenal against Manchester United at Highbury, as Murphy teed the ball up with his back to goal and rifled into the top corner of the Ohio net.
It would be a fitting way to decide any encounter, and provided the Wolverines with a much needed fillip and struck a psychological blow to a team they enjoy beating like no other.
"Everyone did their jobs today,” Murphy said after his winner. "That gives us confidence going into our next game versus Penn State."
