Although the Premier League is largely dominated by foreign talent, there are still a number of hugely talented English youngsters coming through the ranks. Here are the top three...
1. Jack Wilshere
Wilshere is most certainly England’s most gifted player, but there is a question mark over his growth as he is riddled with injuries. However, even with those troubles Wilshere has been tagged as a future captain for both club and country.
Wilshere's technique is brilliant and for a young man he possesses very impressive vision and a keen footballimg brain, allowing him to take control of a game. Whether dribbling or passing, he has the ability to prise open a defence.
Many pundits have commented on his ability and potential, with former England captain Alan Shearer suggesting: “I think he will be the England captain. He has everything about his game that a midfielder should have; he scores goals, he creates and he can be strong in the tackle if he wants to”.
2. Ross Barkley
Barkley has been in the Premier League limelight since the start of the season after being shown a great deal of faith by Everton boss Roberto Martinez. Although Barkley has only played 20 games for Everton to date, he has shown his true quality and, just like Wilshere, he has a huge amount of potential to become a top player in the league.
Due to the recent form of Barkley it has been reported that Manchester United have shown interest in the midfielder. United aren't the only Premier League club reportedly tracking Barkley’s progress as Chelsea are also rumoured to hold an interest in the young man.
There is no doubt that Barkley has the physical attributes needed to become an influential player not only in the Premier League but also on international duty.
3. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Chamberlain is another young talent that is going to light up the Premier League. Chamberlain has already proven his ability in the top-flight after a fantastic 2011/12 season after signing for Arsenal for a fee of £12 million from Southampton.
Chamberlain, along with Barkley, is a very strong and powerful player that has a huge amount of pace and a fantastic shot. Chamberlain has also shown his creative ability on the international stage after being included in the England squad for Euro 2012, where he showed his unbelievable ability for a teenager. This season, Chamberlain has struggled to gain a place in the Arsenal starting line-up after picking up an injury that has prevented him from having any involvement in either the Arsenal squad or the England setup.
