Federico Macheda returns to Manchester United
Federico Macheda has returned to Manchester United after being out on loan to Doncaster
Manchester United striker Federico Macheda has returned to the club after a loan spell with Doncaster ended early because the star picked up a hamstring injury, reports The Daily Star.
After joining the Championship outfit on-loan last month, the forward scored three goals in five appearances for Paul Dickov's side.
And, after picking up the injury, he has returned to the Theatre of Dreams. However, Doncaster boss Dickov hopes the player can return to the club once he regains his fitness.
Speaking to the club's official website, the Rovers manager said: "He will be missing for a good few weeks.
"We are speaking to Manchester United to do a deal to get him back once he is fit."
Macheda has had a stop-star career at Old Trafford since bursting onto the scene as a 17-year-old.
He will forever hold a place in the Red Devils' history books after scoring a crucial winning goal in United's 3-2 victory over Aston Villa in 2009 which helped the club win the Premier League title.
However, the 22-year-old has failed to become a regular name on the teamsheet in Manchester.
