One of the most in-form strikers in the world, Diego Costa, was almost on his way to Anfield over the summer - but have Liverpool missed their chance?
Strong, fast, great movement and a very powerful shot, Costa has everything a striker needs to succeed. Throughout the summer Liverpool were looking into a possible move for the striker, and at one point it looked very possible he would be playing in front of the Kop.
Now though, that the Brazilian is in the form of his life, Liverpool may of missed their chance, with many top clubs sure to take an interest.
After deciding against a move to the Premier League, Costa got on with his football, and leads the La Liga scoring list by two goals, ahead of players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, David Villa and Pedro.
With 10 goals in eight games, in one of the hardest leagues in the world, you would be hard pushed to say he wasn’t the most in-form player, never mind striker in the world. He has already equalled his season total of last year, despite having played 23 games less.
So have Liverpool missed their chance? If this form continues then I highly doubt he will move to Liverpool. Even if they win the Premier League it will be an uphill struggle to convince him to come to the Premier League - especially when the La Liga and the Bundesliga both are attracting better quality players, even the Serie A is out-signing Premier League clubs.
To conclude, Liverpool have missed their chance, and it will be a minor miracle if they sign the 25-year-old Brazilian now.
