Former Tottenham star Kevin-Prince Boateng has marked his injury ravaged career with a memorial tattoo.

The 26-year-old Schalke midfielder has been plagued by injuries during his career and hasn't yet managed to amass 30 games in a particular league season.

The Ghana international chose the rather bizarre image of a spider's web to be inked on his knee recently as a tribute.

“The cobweb I had my stand because of all the knee injuries. This has a certain symbolism. A spider web always comes back. And so it is with my knee,” the midfielder told German newspaper Bild.

German-born Boateng moved back to his homeland during the summer after signing for Bundesliga side Schalke from Italian giants AC Milan.

The attacking midfielder has started the season in fine form with three goals in five appearances.

Unfortunately though his injury troubles may not be behind him, after the player had to be withdrawn during his side's 4-1 win over Augsburg at the weekend and is a doubt for Ghana's World Cup qualifier against Egypt.
