Although the 2013/14 season is still in its infancy, the Premier League has already seen a number of superb individual performances, shocking surprises and intriguing talking points.

With traditional powerhouses such as Manchester United and Chelsea struggling somewhat to impose their authority during the early stages of the title race, Arsene Wenger's Arsenal and Brendan Rodgers' attractive Liverpool outfit currently lead the way at the summit of the top flight.

Here, GMS lists five players who have experienced surprisingly strong or poor starts to the new Premier League campaign. 

The ability of such players to continue their respective hot streaks or awaken themselves from worrying slumber could have a potentially decisive impact on what is set to be a truly close and thrilling championship pursuit.
