Neymar scarier with mohawk - Valdes

Barcelona's £48.6m summer signing Neymar looks better - and scarier - with his trademark mohawk, according to his teammate Victor Valdes.

The Brazil international, who signed a five-year deal with the Catalan giants after leaving Santos in June, played his first few matches without the flamboyant hairstyle but has now got it back after listening to the advice of his goalkeeper.

“When I met Neymar I was accustomed to seeing him with his mohawk, he always had peculiar hair, he was radical and I really liked it,” Valdes told Barcelona's official website.

“When he arrived here he was a bit more normal, he had Will Smith hair... and I told him: ‘Listen Ney, I really prefer your Santos look, the mohawk – you were scary. You’re scarier that way.’ He looked at me and said: ‘Give me a week, brother, give me a week.’ And now he’s got it back.”

Neymar, however, hasn't faired too badly without his mohawk. The 21-year-old has impressed since arriving at the Nou Camp, scoring three goals and providing six assists in his first 11 matches, helping Barcelona win all eight of their La Liga fixtures so far this term.

Subsequently, if he and Barcelona start performing badly after the international break, expect the mohawk to be gone for good.
