Spanish giants Barcelona are being linked with a move for Celtic forward Georgios Samaras, reports talkSPORT.

According to reports in Spain, Barcelona boss Tata Martino is looking at the option of signing Samaras as the former Manchester City man would offer something different to his squad.

The striker has been at Celtic since 2008, but with uncertainty around his future, the Catalans could now make a move to bring the Greek star to the club.

And, after selling David Villa to Atletico Madrid in the summer, Martino is currently short in attack.

With Messi and Neymar not out-and-out strikers, the Catalans have not really had a striker like Samaras on their books since the days of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

With Celtic having played Barcelona a number of times over the past few years in the Champions League, the Spanish side will be well aware of what Samaras could bring to the team.
