Yohan Cabaye

Newcastle United star Yohan Cabaye looked set to leave St. James' Park during the summer.

The Frenchman was linked with a deadline day move to North London side Arsenal, after Gunners' manager Arsene Wenger made a late move for the midfielder.

Newcastle didn't allow their prize possession to depart, leaving Cabaye unhappy in Tyneside and consequently missed the club's start to the season.

After the close of the transfer window, Newcastle fans came to terms with the situation and allowed Cabaye to regain their trust.

The France international came off the bench against Everton and scored one of the early contenders for goal of the season - with a stunning strike from 35-yards that nestled into the top corner of the net.

Cabaye will have to prove to manager Alan Pardew that he is focused on playing his best for the club this season, and not looking to push a move away in January.

Pardew has options with Hatem Ben Arfa, Yoan Gouffran and Loic Remy vying for starting-roles.

This could mean Cabaye may have to continue to show this dazzling talents from the Toon bench.
