Barcelona full-back Jordi Alba has suffered an injury setback and has been ruled out for a further six weeks with a thigh problem.
Alba will miss key games against Real Madrid in La Liga and Ajax and AC Milan in the Champions League in the run up to Christmas as he battles to return from the injury he picked up in training.
The former Valencia man hasn't featured for the Catalan club since mid-September.
A statement on Barcelona's read: "Jordi Alba suffered a muscle injury in the back of his left thigh in training this morning which, according to the Club doctors, will keep him out of action for approximately six weeks.
"The injury comes as a further blow to the Catalan wing back, who has been working his way back to fitness following an similar injury he picked up a month ago in his other leg.
The news of Alba's setback will come as a further blow to Barcelona boss Gerardo Martino who has an ever-growing injury list and key games on the horizon.
Lionel Messi is nursing a muscle injury and is expected to be out for three weeks, while Javier Mascherano is also sidelined.
Defensive stalwart Carles Puyol is yet to play a league game this season, although is nearing a return.
