Manchester United's rivalry with Liverpool forced David Moyes to send starlet Jesse Lingard out on loan.

The Red Devils boss had planned to play the youngster in the Capital One Cup, but after the champions were drawn against the Merseyside outfit in the third round, Moyes decided to give him first-team experience and send him out on loan.

Lingard heavily impressed in pre-season for the Red Devils scoring a number of goals in  Australia and Asia.

The youngster, who completed his second cap for the England U21 side last night after coming on as a second half substitute against San Marino, has had a great spell so far at Birmingham scoring five goals in four games for the Championship outfit.

Both United and Birmingham are seeing the benefits as the youngster continues to develop and the Red Devils will get a confident Lingard return to the Theatre of Dreams following his month at the St Andrew's stadium.
