Liverpool could be set to miss out on the signing of Hellas Verona playmaker Jorginho, with Fiorentina poised to increase their own interest according to Italian sources quoted by talkSPORT.

21-year-old Jorginho, who is Brazilian-born but chooses to represent Italy at international level, is believed to have caught Reds manager Brendan Rodgers' eye during the summer with the Northern Irishman evidently intent on adding a greater level of creative threat to his midfield options.

After impressing for the Serie A newboys, Jorginho is also rumoured to have attracted interest from Italian giants AC Milan.

However, according to sources identified by talkSPORT, rivals Fiorentina could be set to move into pole position to secure the signature of the U21 international, with Vincenzo Montella's men believed to be readying a £10 million swoop.

After the difficult start endured by summer acquisition Iago Aspas at Anfield and injury worries consistently surrounding Philippe Coutinho, it remains to be see if Rodgers' could be tempted to compete with the Florence outfit and make a bid of his own when the transfer window re-opens for business in the new year.
