Jack Wilshere has found himself in a whirlwind of controversy this week after he made comments regarding who should be eligible to play for the national side.
Davies' comments on the matter were: "Jack has fuelled the debate on Januzaj and it's an interesting one. But he's here to work, not one of his parents or grandparents are English, he's literally here just to play football for a few years. I don't think that's enough to qualify to play for England."
Davies like Wilshere feels as though the noble honour of representing England should be for those who have originated from England.
Wilshere earlier this week had a twitter row with England batsman Kevin Pietersen, where Pietersen replied to Wilshere's comments saying: "Interested to know how you define foreigner...? Would that include me, Andrew Strauss, Trott, Prior, Justin Rose, Froome, Mo Farah?"
Wilshere did attempt to soothe the situation by saying: "With all due respect Mr Pietersen the question was about Football! Cricket, cycling, Athletics is not my field!"
However Wilshere's comments had already angered the English cricketer.
Although not everyone agreed with Wilshere, both of his coaches Arsene Wenger and Roy Hodgson supported his comments.
Wilshere's comments have formed a debate on who should be eligible to play for the three lions and has made the footballing community question the rules.
Do you think Januzaj should be eligible to play for England?
