Every good team needs a good striker and lets be clear- Chelsea have three great strikers.
However, something is going wrong at Stamford Bridge with their striking options, none of them score enough goals at the moment.
Individually Fernando Torres, Demba Ba and Samuel Eto'o are all fantastic, in different ways, but not the way that they need to be to have success with The Blues.
Clearly the best striker that Chelsea have had over the course of the last ten years is Didier Drogba, the man that Jose Mourinho bought in his first spell at the club.
Drogba had it all and won it all- eventually- pace, power, trickery and accuracy as someone that could play through a defensive line or be the talisman target-man.
Mourinho has all of those attributes available to use but spread over three players rather than just one, the only problem is that nobody tends to play three out-and-out strikers at the same time unless they want to end up conceding a bunch of goals.
Ba is a great target-man but isn't the quickest, Torres is vice-verse while Eto'o can provide the trickery but at 32, he can fade easily.
Chelsea really need another all-rounder to fully utilize the amazing creative options at the club, I don't like it when people say young players are the next-such and such but in this case I think the next-Drogba needs to be found. Until that point the current situation just will not work in the long-term and a clear-out should be in order.
A lot of pundits and fans suggest Romelu Lukaku could be that man, but lets not forget he is only 20-years-old. In the same way that it is foolish to say Adnan Januzaj is the future of Manchester United, it is also unfair to expect Lukaku to fire Chelsea to glory.
A lot of fans may disagree but loaning him to Everton was probably the right decision at this point in his career he doesn't need the pressure of leading a top-four club just yet.
Which other targets could take on that mantle?
Christian Benteke is proving his first season in the Premier League wasn't just a fluke- he possess all of the qualities Mourinho could do with in one player, the Aston Villa man probably isn't at the same level as Drogba right now but he could become a better player with better players around him- no disrespect to Villa.
The 22-year-old Belgian stated his wishes to play for a big club in the summer and they don't come much bigger than Chelsea.
