Arsenal must sign Juventus outcast Fernando Llorente
Spanish striker could move to Arsenal on a short term loan
Arsenal are looking towards the January transfer window and reports suggest that they are hoping to bring in Spanish striker Fernando Llorente as a short term relief for Olivier Giroud.
The acquisition of the striker could help the Gunners maintain their place at the top of the league, implying they stay there by the time January arrives.
Since Llorente is on the bench due to Carlos Tevez lighting up Serie A, moving to Arsenal could get him game time, as well as a slight possibility of being called up to the World Cup squad.
Whilst Llorente is a short term target, it is still rumoured that Luis Suarez could be the long term goal, despite the controversial Uruguayan striker moving past his transfer saga drama.
Llorente has only scored once for Juventus, but his playing time has been severely restricted by the likes of Tevez, who is in form and keeping Juventus in the hunt for the title.
A change of scenery could benefit both Llorente and Arsenal alike, who could use another forward to relieve some load off of Frenchman Giroud.
Giroud has tallied five goals in seven appearances for Arsenal this season, with the help of new signing Mesut Ozil.
Ozil's unselfish playing style has helped Arsenal reach the top of the table, tied first with Liverpool. But extra firepower could help the Gunners extend their lead them at the top of the table, with a decent point margin.
During 2011/2012, Llorente netted 17 goals in 24 appearances for Athletic Bilbao, and 18 in the previous season, which bolstered his stock dramatically, making him a wanted man.
Bench warming does no good for any player, especially with the World Cup coming around in eight months time, every player wants to play and boost their chances in representing their nation at the world's largest sporting event.
Llorente could earn playing time with Arsene Wenger's men, as well as a taste of the Premier League, which could benefit the striker in the long term.
The move would add versatility to Arsenal alongside Giroud, who is Arsenal's lone striker aside from young Frenchman Yaya Sanogo.
Llorente could prove crucial to Arsenal's quest for a piece of silverware this season, especially in the case of an Olivier Giroud injury, which could hurt the Gunner's chances.
If the loan move does not pan out, Arsenal may need to stick to their guns and search for other viable alternatives.
