Wayne Rooney - six goals

With six goals in five games, Wayne Rooney is the fifth highest goalscorer in World Cup qualifying.

His goals against San Marino, Montenegro and Poland have helped England to move within a win of automatic qualification, and within 13 goals of Sir Bobby Charlton's all-time England record of 49.

The Manchester United striker has been in good form this season after reportedly handing in a transfer request and sounding out a move to Chelsea. England manager Roy Hodgson is pleased at Rooney's return to form for England's crucial final games.
