Top five: Memorable debuts (5)

Andros Towsend | England

When England's team sheet was announced on Friday evening, the inclusion of Tottenham winger Andros Townsend inspired much debate.

Although in form, the inclusion surprised fans and pundits alike. A bad performance would surely seal a future of mediocrity on the international stage. A good performance would see him labelled as England's new star.

Fortunately for everyone concerned with English football, it was the latter.

After impressing throughout the game, Towsend capped the evening with a fantastic 30-yard striker which sealed the must-win game for England.

He can expect a start in England's next game against Poland and possibly a seat on the plane to Brazil, should England qualify.
