After making waves at Barcelona, an 18-year-old Lionel Messi was called up to represent Argentina in a friendly against Hungary.
Going on to be named the Ballon d'Or winner four times in a row, you would expect Messi to net a sensational hat trick, but his performance couldn't be further from good.
Less than one minute in to his debut, Messi was shown a red card following an elbow on Hungarian defender Vilmos Vanczak.
"It wasn't the way I dreamed it would be," Messi told reporters.
"I passed him (Vanczak) and he just grabbed me and I wanted to free myself so I could carry on and the referee judged that I had elbowed him."
